Hiked in the Rocky Mountains with these for days. Comfortable, durable, and water resistant. I am 5,10 175lbs. Thicker legs so needed the large. They are tight around the calf (which looks good) but just make sure to get the right size!
I've taken these pants climbing, hiking, and backpacking. Overall, meh.
The best thing about these pants is that they were comfortable and stretchy. I really like that for bouldering and climbing. However, these are some of the least breathable pants I've ever hiked in, and even in cooler temperatures (60s) I was noticing how warm my lower half felt. In temperatures above 75 or so these pants would be a bad choice. The DWR works in that water usually beads up, but I also wore these hiking on a trail with some brushy sections, and they were saturated in seconds. The pockets are deep and I liked that, but the ties on the bottom of the pant are higher-profile so they get caught on brush and twigs when hiking, often coming untied and causing me to trip. I got these pants per a friend's recommendation and because the color matched what I needed to wear for work, but I don't plan to wear them much in the future, at least not in a performance setting.
Overall, I would recommend these pants specifically for: outdoor bouldering in dry conditions in the winter. I would not recommend these pants for any kind of technical hiking or backpacking, in warmer or wet conditions, and definitely not when you need high performance gear.
Pros: Comfortable, stretchy. Deep pockets.
Cons: NOT breathable at all, ties snag while hiking, saturate quickly
i've had these pants for two years now and they have definitely stood up to alot of abuse. i wear these for work, mountain biking, hiking, and under my drysuit when whitewater kayaking. pretty tough, as i've fallen pretty hard in them- catching a gutter with the front trucks of my skateboard moving at the speed of mach jesus. even then, the hole in the knee is miniscule. i cut the strings out of the ankles and waist, didnt seem to need them, but the waist strings would still be nice to have (guess i better buy another pair ;) great for damn near anything. super stretchy, and reinforced crotch area for even the thickest of thighs, and comfortable enough to sleep in. water beads off them still, which is insane. i could go on about these pants but i'll let you try a pair yourself. thanks coalatree!
I love this company and especially these pants. Will be buying more.
