We have partnered with Blacksmith USA, a local Cut & Sew Factory in Utah, to make masks from up-cycled Coalatree materials. These masks are made in Salt Lake City, and are supporting jobs in our hometown. Together we can supply front line workers with the PPE they need to fight COVID-19. Thank you!
The cotton layers are a tight weave and the mask shape is excellent, including over nose. The tie strings are plenty long with just enough stretch. I support their Bears Ears partner, too.
Here's the thing, it's a mask, it's softer material, it's pricey, yes I bough 4 to share with loved ones. It does the job, it covers your face...would I buy more? No, it's not worth the price point and honestly I can make a better one, just need the time (story of life, right?). The biggest complaint I have with this design is that the seam in the front of the mask goes straight down your nose and is bulky/not seamed well enough to prevent some fairly serious agitation while wearing for any extended amount of time (aka >15 minutes). Talking or moving much does also seem to pull down the mask and the tight fit over this chin can feell quite constricting and tie configuration doesn't seem to help out with the fit... Additionally, the tie-behind style is not as convenient or quick to put-on/take-off as somethings such as the KEEN Together Mask design. Though I understand some people may be more comfortable with and appreciate the tie-style that this mask offers, it is more of a hassle on the whole and I would spend your money on a different product. 3 out of 5 due to the bulky seam and for the price point on this one. (Though a solid 5/5 for product being in stock, and for shipping time!)
The material is nice, the mask isn't as breathable as I hoped though... If you hold it up to your nose, you have to breathe pretty hard to get air to pass through. If you're trying to look nice, you may like this one.. If you want decent air flow, this is not the one.
The air does not push through the mask, it pushes into it, then around it. Its like breathing through a high quality button up shirt. (or trying to breathe I should say).
Still love the company obviously, not the mask.
These masks are really well made. I bought two masks to start and they weren’t enough. I now have five so I can use them each day of the week while in college. They really cover the nose, mouth, and chin in a secure way. They wash really well and there was very little shrinking. The only thing I would add is that they are better to wear with a hat or with hair pulled back because of the tie on strings.
The fit is perfect--snugs nose and doesn't fog glasses! And the ties are the best--they have some elastic, so they have some stretch, which makes them so much easier to tie. The masks that go around the ears always end up hurting...these don't! I have a big head, my wife has a small one, and these fit perfect for both of us.
